Hong Kong Red Cross Red Décor Photographic Competition Result Announcement & Award Presentation

(Hong Kong.27 September 2010) The corporate fundraising campaign of Hong Kong Red Cross - Red Décor Day 2010 - was held on 12th August for its second year.  As many as 69 corporations with more than 4,300 corporate staff participated and dressed in red to show support.  Many also joined Red Décor Photographic Competition to extend the joy of “FUN in RED” in office. The campaign has raised over HK$370,000 to support our humanitarian services.

Adjudicated by professionals and public vote on Facebook, thirteen winning entries as well as “The Most Favorite Photo on Facebook” are selected and announced at the Award Presentation which was held at Hong Kong Red Cross Headquarters today (Appendix 1).  Ms Rhea Leung, Head of Communications & Resource Development (Acting), Hong Kong Red Cross, presents prizes to the awardees. Hong Kong Red Cross thanks all corporations and staff for their participation and support. The Red Décor Day
Red Décor Day is held on 12 August in commemoration in commemoration of the Four Geneva Conventions adapted on 12 August 1949, which confer neutrality to Red Cross in 194 affiliated countries to deliver humanitarian services in protecting human life and dignity around the world.

Convention (I) for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field
Convention (II) for the Amelioration of the Condition of Wounded, Sick and Shipwrecked Members of Armed Forces at Sea
Convention (III) relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War
Convention (IV) relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War
