Local Disaster Relief Service
About Us
The HKRC Local Disaster Relief Service (LDRS) of the HKRC was established in 1951. We are committed to providing appropriate humanitarian support to vulnerable people affected by disasters and crises, such as climate, urban or public health disasters or emergencies. Apart from relief, we also provide services related to pre-disaster early warning early actions and post-disaster early recovery to meet urgent needs before, during or after the disaster.
Relief Items Application Service
We are currently the only organization in Hong Kong supporting the Social Welfare Department to provide 24-hour emergency services and relief materials for people affected by local disasters or emergencies upon referral by Government departments or non governmental organizations. Relief materials in our regular service include clothing, blankets, and daily necessities.
Persons requiring assistance can apply through contacting us or other agencies such as the Social Welfare Department, Medical Social Services in hospitals, Correctional Services Department or other social services in non-governmental organizations.

Disaster Response
We provide emergency relief materials, cash or voucher assistance, and integrated services to people affected by disasters or emergencies (e.g. climate, technological or public health hazards) to meet their needs before, during or after the critical period.
If you are the disaster affected households, or the government units / community organizations supporting the affected households, you can contact our duty officers at 9172 4485 or 6061 1836 to enquire and apply relief items or RED Cash.

Rapid Emergency and Disaster Cash Assistance (RED Cash)
We provide one-off cash assistance, namely RED Cash, to the vulnerable households that have been severely affected by shortlisted disasters or emergency incidents in Hong Kong.
