World Red Cross Day – Humanity · As Our Beginning Together We Care
8 May is celebrated annually as the "World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day," which also commemorates the birthday of Henry Dunant, the founder of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. To commemorate this occasion, we will hold the "World Red Cross Day 2025 cum Hong Kong Red Cross 75th Anniversary Kick-off Ceremony" on 8 May (Thursday). The theme of the event is "Humanity · As Our Beginning", representing our commitment to staying true to our original aspirations and consistently striving to advance humanitarian efforts. We continuously provide humanitarian services through various aspects, including youth development, emergency relief and public education. The series of event will include story sharing, followed by a Bus Parade cum experimental activities, to showcase our cause of humanity and celebrate the joy with the community in Hong Kong.

The experiental activity incorporates elements of disaster response and preparedness with social inclusion. By role-playing different groups such as wheelchair users and blind people, participants will personally experience the challenges faced when a fire breaks out in substandard units. During the activity, they will not only learn practical disaster preparedness knowledge, but also gain a deeper understanding of the helplessness and difficulties during disasters. Through the experience, we hope to inspire more people to lend a helping hand, collectively promoting a more inclusive community and support measures, so that everyone can have equal opportunities for survival in times of crisis.
Bus Parade
We are holding a bus parade on May 8. During the event, we will revisit the footsteps of the Hong Kong Red Cross over the years and hope to reach different corners of the community to personally convey our appreciation.
We look forward to sharing this joy with you. Please stay tuned for the parade route and join us on this journey of gratitude!
