Volunteering International Humanitarian Work

The Hong Kong Red Cross works with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which is the world’s largest humanitarian network with 186 National Societies and more than 100 million volunteers, to help vulnerable people who are affected in devastating disasters and armed conflicts around the world.  We achieve the goals by contributing financial support, in-kind donations, as well as personnel to support the Movement’s operations.  In our work, we strictly follow the Fundamental Principles: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality.

Contribution of Hong Kong Red Cross Personnel

The Hong Kong Red Cross recruits volunteers to work in vulnerable regions, often during emergency and in the aftermath of natural disasters or armed conflicts.  To work in these complex areas, our volunteers should possess the required skills and professional profiles.  We have a pool of volunteers with various professional profiles including healthcare professionals, electrical and mechanical engineers, water and sanitation engineers, construction engineers, telecommunication specialists, reporting professionals, photographers, etc.
